Introducing your Full Diet CSA
Straw Farm - Dandelion Spring Farm
The farmers of Straw Farm (Lee) and Dandelion Spring Farm (Beth) thrive on the diversity of what we bring together. In this spirit we offer the Full Diet CSA. Each week you receive open access to our meat, vegetables, milk, and eggs. The Herbivore is our vegetable only, full diet option.
CSA PRODUCT INFO:
As a member, you may come to the farm on Wednesdays from 4pm-7pm, or meet us weekly in Rockland or Portland to pick up your food. Everything we are harvesting or storing at the time is available to you. Take as much as you need for the week. During the vegetable harvest season we encourage you to take extra for freezing and canning. We may impose quantity limits on a few of the most precious goods, for example: the first tomatoes, or pork tenderloin.
Each household will have the opportunity for a custom cut freezer lamb from our selection raised on a Penobscot Bay island, and a sheep pelt.
Poultry: Individuals will receive 12 broiler chickens for your freezer, and families 15. Each household will receive one Turkey for Thanksgiving.
The farm freezers are full of beef, pork, and lamb. Not all cuts will be available all year, and sometimes not all animal types will be available, but there will always be a lot of meat! Take as much as you need.
We always have: Raw, Jersey Organic milk. A large selection of Certified Organic Vegetables. Eggs.In addition to this Full Diet, all you can eat, CSA style, we also offer a credit style CSA for our farmers’ market community. We attend two farmers’ markets a week, have a single on-farm pick-up day, and also sell to a number of wholesale accounts. We want our year-round CSA members to know that you have priority in our eyes, but our food will not be limited to you exclusively. We will try to map your preferences, and aside enough bacon for your needs, but this format can be a dynamic work in progress for your eating style, and our marketing.

We require a $200 non-refundable deposit to reserve a space, that can be applied to your May payment. All members of a household must join. There cannot be a mix of “Full Diet” and “Herbivore” members within the same household.
- $2240 ($280 per month) per person
- Children aged 4 and up pay $30 per year of age (for example, a 7 year old costs $210)
- You may take 10% off the price if full payment is made by May 1st.
- For new members, we must have at least two months worth of payment up front for participation.
Education and Events:
We’ve loved how this model acts to integrate farm and community. We will have events through-out the year, and anticipate gathering with you for our popular summer picnics, on-farm suppers, lambing day open houses, and more.
We also understand that focusing on a locally produced, year round diet, may be a new way for many of you to eat. Besides growing the food, we know it is our responsibility to help you understand different cuts of meat, perhaps vegetable types that are new to you, and the general seasonality of growing food in Maine.
